Thinking about entering the GM Skills Awards 2026? A strong entry is all about clear evidence, real impact, and a compelling story. Here are our top 10 tips to help your submission shine:
Top 10 Tips for Your GM Skills Awards Entry
- Quality Over Quantity
Focus on the strength of your submission, not the length. Every detail should be relevant and impactful – this is your chance to shine! - Match the Criteria
Clearly state the category you’re entering and make sure your entry aligns with the published criteria. Tailored submissions stand out to judges. - Use Your Words Wisely
Character limits matter – keep your entry clear, concise, and compelling. Avoid filler and make every sentence count. Act as if the judges know nothing about what you do – tell the full story. - Keep It Simple and Authentic
Skip jargon. Use a personal tone that reflects real impact and achievements – judges value relatable stories. - Explain the Impact
Don’t just list achievements – answer the “So what?” What difference did it make? How did it benefit your organisation, learners, or community? - Be Thorough
Judges don’t know your organisation like you do. Include all relevant details and bring your story to life – don’t assume they know the context. - Show Evidence
Back up your claims with data and results. Include metrics like growth, retention rates, or satisfaction scores to strengthen your case. - Include Testimonials
Add quotes or feedback from learners, staff, or partners to demonstrate real-world impact and authenticity. Testimonials make your story more relatable and credible. - Start Early
Don’t leave it to the last minute. A rushed entry can miss key details – give yourself time to create a polished submission that does justice to your achievements. (Deadline reminder: 13th February!) - Use Available Resources
