Manchester City Council is proud to sponsor the Community Initiative of the Year at the GM Skills Awards 2025!
The Community Initiative of the Year Award celebrates a project or programme that has made a significant impact on local communities through skills development or training. This award recognises an initiative that demonstrates innovation, inclusivity, and a deep commitment to addressing community needs. The winning initiative will have successfully empowered individuals, fostered community engagement, and contributed to the overall betterment of their local community.
Our sponsor for this category is Manchester: UNESCO – City of Lifelong Learning. Manchester aspired to be the best UK ‘city for adult education and skills by 2025’. They went one step further by becoming internationally recognised, by UNESCO, as a world leading City of Lifelong Learning.
They believe that people are Manchester’s biggest asset and that we can do more to ensure that all Mancunians reach their full potential, whilst being able to access the richness of opportunities to earn, learn and experience what the city has to offer.
Counciler Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, said:
“Given that Manchester has been recognised by UNESCO as a City of Lifelong Learning it should come as no surprise at how proud we are to be one of the sponsors for the GM Skills Awards. It feels fitting that this year we are the sponsor of the Community Initiative of the Year, an award which aims to highlight the incredible work and dedication of Mancunians in going that extra mile for their community, providing the platform for people to improve their skills, develop or enter into training.”
